School Council

Democracy in Action

Who are they?
The School Council comprises of children from each class who have been elected by their classmates to represent each classes views.  Mr Powell (parent) works with the school council to help them present their views to the Headteacher and Governors.

 

What do they do?
The school council meets regularly with the Headteacher to talk about how the school can be improved for the children or problems that they would like to discuss with the Headteacher.  Topics which have been discussed this term include:-
Improving wet playtime by providing more activities for children to do.
Lunch time organization and seating plans.
Improving the outside area by providing more play equipment.

The School Council are also responsible for selecting charities and organizing charitable events.  This term they organized the harvest festival which raised money for Christian Aid.  During the Summer term they will be organizing a charity run for Cancer Research as part of Race for Life.

 

Community Project
The School Council is currently involved in developing a plan to improve  facilities in the community. They will be presenting their ideas to the Parish Council and will work with the Headteacher and Mr Powell to  identify possible funding sources.
Some of their ideas include;-
Adult exercise equipment to improve the health and fitness of the communit.y
A range of play equipment for all ages.
A reflective garden and nature area, including a pond.
